The basics

Where does the name Sophroic come from?

Sophroic is drawn from sophrosyne (σωφροσύνη), an ancient Greek virtue usually translated as soundness of mind, self-knowledge, or temperance. It comes from sos, meaning safe or whole, and phren, meaning mind. The Greeks paired it with the two maxims carved at Delphi: know thyself, and nothing in excess. That is the idea behind the assessment. Your colors are not a score to improve, they are a description to understand, and each color does its best work in balance with the other three.

What is Sophroic?

Sophroic is a color personality assessment. You answer a short questionnaire and get a profile across four colors: Green (The Harmonizer), Red (The Driver), Yellow (The Spark), and Blue (The Architect). AI then writes a report specific to your exact mix, covering your strengths, blind spots, and how you work best.

What do the four colors mean?

Green is The Harmonizer: steady, supportive, people-first, patient. Red is The Driver: direct, decisive, results-driven, takes charge. Yellow is The Spark: expressive, optimistic, social, persuasive. Blue is The Architect: precise, analytical, thorough, careful. Everyone is a blend of all four; your dominant and secondary colors lead.

Is one color better than another?

No. Colors describe how you are, not how good you are. There are no right answers, no passing score, and no ideal type. The value is in understanding your own mix and how it interacts with the people around you.

How long does the assessment take?

The basic quick assessment is 12 questions and takes about 4 minutes. The deep-dive assessment is 81 questions across three lenses and takes about 15 minutes.

Basic vs deep assessment

What is the difference between the basic and deep assessments?

The basic assessment (free) gives you your dominant and secondary colors, full percentages, and your two-letter type. The deep-dive assessment (included with every paid plan) measures three separate lenses: your Expectations (what you feel you ought to do), your Preferred self (what energizes you), and your Instinctive self (how you react under pressure). Shifts between lenses, like a different color leading under pressure, are often the most revealing part.

Can I retake the assessment?

Yes, as often as you like. Paid plans keep your full assessment history and show how your color mix changes over time. Once you take the deep dive, it becomes the basis for your reports.

How much does Sophroic cost?

The basic assessment and your color profile are free. Individual is $9 per month and adds the deep dive, AI reports, history, and the printable Assessment Certificate. Individual + AI is $19 per month and adds the AI coach. Group starts at $7 per seat per month, and Group + AI at $12 per seat, sold in 5-seat increments with volume discounts from 11 seats.

What does the AI coach do?

The AI coach answers questions about your own results: how to handle a hard conversation, give feedback to a different color, or manage stress, all grounded in your actual profile and report rather than generic advice. It is included with the + AI plans, with a monthly token allowance and optional top-up packs that never expire.

What is the Assessment Certificate?

A printable, office-ready certificate that states your colors, what you do well, who you work well with, and where you appreciate help. Teams pin them up as a fast 'how to work with me' guide.

Teams

How do team plans work?

A manager subscribes to a Group plan, names the team at checkout, and invites members by email. Each member takes their own assessment. The team dashboard shows everyone's colors and a team mind map with gold and silver affinity links showing which pairs flow naturally and which benefit from awareness.

Can my manager see my results?

Only with your consent. When you accept a team invitation you choose whether to share your results with your manager, and you can change your mind. Managers also decide which teammates each member can see; nobody sees results that were not shared.

What is the team mind map?

A visual map of your team where each person appears with their color mix. Lines between people show affinity: gold links are pairings that tend to flow naturally, silver links are complementary pairings that work well with a little mutual awareness. Managers and members with visibility can also ask the AI coach how to work with specific teammates.

Method and privacy

Is Sophroic scientifically validated?

Sophroic is built on the four-temperament tradition of personality models and uses a forced-choice (most like me / least like me) format that limits flattering self-answers. It is designed for self-discovery and better teamwork, not clinical diagnosis, hiring decisions, or medical use. You can read the full methodology on our methodology page.

How is my data handled?

Your results are private by default and stored in your account. You control sharing: results are only visible to a team manager or teammates when you have explicitly consented. We do not sell personal data. See our privacy policy for full details.
